BikeBC Funding for the Greater Victoria region over $2.5M

Minister Todd Stone was on site at the Hallowell entrance of the E&N Trail to announce some big investments in cycling infrastructure in Victoria and surrounding communities.

The site of the announcement will itself be undergoing a major upgrade as the CRD received $1M in BikeBC funding to complete a section of trail from Hallowell to Maplebank which currently skirts the Esquimalt First Nation reserve along Admirals Road.

Additionally, Minister Stone announced $203,500 in funds for separated bike lanes on Dunford Avenue in Langford, $450,000 towards bike lanes on Landsdowne Road in Saanich, as well as $890,492 to help fund the two-way protected bicycle facility on Pandora Avenue in Victoria.

In total, Vancouver Island is receiving $2.7M in BikeBC funding, with just over $2.5M invested in the Greater Victoria region.  Minister Stone announced that this was the largest single investment in cycling in the region in ages.  Read the whole story here.
