This page includes information about participating in bike skills courses including details about what to bring and what to wear to the courses.

 

 

Q: What are the requirements to participate?

KIDS

  • Participants must be able to ride a bicycle without training wheels.
  • Helmets must be properly fitted and in sound condition.
  • Bicycles must be in safe working condition

YOUTH & ADULTS

  • Participants must be able to ride a bicycle and start and stop without assistance
  • Helmets must be properly fitted and in sound condition.
  • Bicycles must be in safe working condition

Q: What do I need to bring?

  • Helmet – mandatory
  • Bike – required for all except ‘Adult Part I’
  • Food – pack a lunch and snacks
  • Water – in reusable water bottles please
  • Waiver (youth & kids) – print and complete
  • Bike lock

** We are an earth-friendly organization.  Please help us uphold our sustainability goals by bringing reusable containers for snacks and lunches as well as reusable water bottles.  Thank you!**

Q: What should I wear?

  • Closed-toe shoes
  • Weather-appropriate clothing; layers are best

Q: How much do the courses cost?

ADULT FULL-DAY – $75.00

*NEW* ADULT EXPRESS – $45.00

ADULT PART I OR II – $40.00

YOUTH – $65.00

KIDS – $30.00

Q: What do I get?

  • Bike sense manual
  • Regional cycling map
  • Reflective stickers and bracelets *when available
  • A bucket-load of knowledge and skills

Q: How long are the courses?

  • ADULT full-day  7.5 hours including a snack and lunch break (usually runs 9:00 – 4:30)
  • *NEW* ADULT EXPRESS 4.5 hours including a basic bike mechanics overview (usually runs 9:00 – 1:30)
  • ADULT Part I or II  4 hours including a short break
  • YOUTH  6.5 hours including a break for lunch (usually runs 9:00 – 3:30)
  • KIDS  3 hours including a snack break

Q: Where are the courses held?

We put on courses throughout the Greater Victoria region, usually in recreation and community centers.  Locations include Oak Bay Rec Center, Henderson Rec Center, Pearkes Rec Center, the Crystal Pool, our office and more.  Check out our booking page for all upcoming course locations.

Q: What is the cancellation policy?

  • Courses run rain or shine
  • If you need to reschedule, credit can be applied towards another course as long as you do so 4 days in advance
  • No refunds for cancelled bookings or no-shows
