The Bike to Work Society aims to make cycling a mainstream commuting choice across the Greater Victoria area. Bike to Work Week and our Bike Skills programs aim to get more people biking more places more often.
Impact: Since the Bike to Work Society’s inception in 1994, Bike to Work Week has engaged over 100,000 commuter cyclists. In 2019, Bike to Work Week participants averted over 156,000 kg of GHG emissions, transported themselves over a total of 725,000kms and burned over 22million calories. This weeklong behaviour change campaign has proven to increase the number of commuter cyclists in Greater Victoria and raise the profile of commuter cycling for the past 26 years.
Reach: Bike to Work Week has engaged over 100,000 cyclists in the past 26 years. In 2019, the Bike to Work Week celebrated its 25th anniversary with 700 teams and 10,050 registrants with 2,046 being new riders. This event took place at over 20 celebration stations with free food/beverages, prizes.
